We are proud to announce that Douglas T. Carrell, Ph.D., H.C.L.D. has been awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the American Society of Andrology. This achievement comes as no surprise to those of us who have witnessed Dr. Carrell’s laboratory directorship abilities in action at the Center for Reproductive Medicine & Advanced Reproductive Technologies.
From the press release: “In recognition of his extraordinary service to the American Society of Andrology, and to the field of Andrology in general, his dedication to and exceptional leadership of the Andrology journal, and his strong commitment to training the next generation of Andrologists, the American Society of Andrology is pleased to present the Distinguished Service Award to Dr. Douglas Carrell.
According to Dr. Carrell, this award is validation that his efforts over many years to improve the science and medicine of Andrology are beneficial to the community. “It’s always nice to be recognized for efforts, but I think the real reward is knowing that those efforts have made meaningful contributions and improvements in the field, both for physicians and patients.”
He believes one of the chief benefits of doing cutting edge research, serving as the editor of the preeminent Andrology journal, and serving in a leadership role in the Andrology society is to ensure that we have are implementing care and procedures based on the latest and best studies.
“The reward and excitement for me as a lab director is improving our care to patients and seeing that translate to the patients’ lives. The excitement going forward is to know that we can continue to respond to the evolving world in a way that leads to even more success and fulfillment for our patients and our staff. It’s obviously a challenging time, but we can continue to grow and improve through careful analysis and actions.”
